Celebrity Endorsements That Matter

I can still remember my excitement the day mom brought home our first loaf of Yaz Bread.

Carl Yastrzemski wasn’t just a good ball player, he was my childhood hero.

The best thing about his nickname–Yaz–was that many of my friends called me Maz…some still do.

Since my folks weren’t easily fooled, I was fortunate the ballplayer was endorsing an item we needed.

They loved the Boston Red Sox too, but they hated waste.

Through the power of suggestion (as I bit into my first slice, probably PB&J or baloney) I can still recall the rush of energy that electrified my veins.

I really believed the endorsement from my hero meant eating it would make me more like him.

There was no science to it, just faith.

Flash back 2,000 years.

There was another local hero who endorsed celebrity bread.

Check out John 6:51

I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

So, next time you want to feel like a child again, don’t waste time and get yourself to Holy Mass…it’s always More Than a Feeling (Boston).

It’s also a direct order from the world’s hero.
