Gun Law Ghost Haunts Navy Shipyard

For some unknown reason a Department of Defense regulation, issued in 1992, prevented regular servicemen from carrying weapons on U.S. bases.

That makes about as much sense as telling a Barber College no students are allowed to carry clippers, lest they run with them and get hurt.

Why a person who legally holds a concealed or open carry permit, on a Navy base, with more training than the average person, should be stripped of personal protection, is beyond me.

What I do know is that the Navy shooter broke gun regulations to kill twelve innocent people.

It’s time we stop using laws and begin using common sense.
