The Christmas and Easter Catholics

Listen up.

If you happen to be one of the people who fall into the category above, I have just one thing to say.

If you were a High School Student, would you be able to get away with going to class two days a year?

If you were in College, do you think your name would appear in the commencement program on graduation day, with just two lectures under your belt?

I’m not asking you to stop going on Christmas and Easter, if that’s all you can muster.

What I am asking is that you stop identifying yourself as a practicing Catholic when you answer those annoying poll calls that ring up the house three nights a week.

The latest is a poll that shows 55% of Catholics are “O.K.” with redefining marriage.

That’s what’s in the headline.

What they don’t tell you is that nearly 40% of those polled almost never go to Mass…just on Easter and/or Christmas.

My bet is that the Easters and/or Christmases they’re talking about were during the Bush era…Bush the elder that is.

The media loves to knock Christian winners.

They hate dogma that stands for Truth.

When it comes to what Catholics believe, don’t accept anything you read until you’ve studied the fine print.

And as for those who continue in lukewarm Catholicism…I have a bit of fine print for you…these are the Words of our Savior from Revelation 3.

Remember Him?

15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold, nor hot. I would thou wert cold, or hot.

16 But because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold, nor hot, I will begin to vomit thee out of my mouth.
