Bible Movie Scores…but…

Like millions of others, I tuned in to see the opening of the new Bible series on the History Channel.

It was, as expected, a glossing over of the highlights of the Bible stories that we all love.

I also happen to be a huge fan of Roma Downey, the one time star of Touched by An Angel.

She and Mark Burnett, both from the U.K., are the series’ producers.

That’s a feat in itself, that there are two Christians left promoting the Bible from the U.K.

Speaking of there not being many good people left, I have to admit, I was a bit let down by the Sodom scene, other than the special effects of the fighting angels, a video game waiting to happen, the program conveniently left out the real reason why God destroyed that City, along with the City of Gomorrah.

Here’s the section of Scripture from Genesis 19 that was just too hot for the History Channel to handle.

And Oh…don’t cry “hate”…cry “mercy.”

God is not “hate” He is “love.”

What would be “hate” is God NOT warning us of that which can separate us from Him for eternity.

When the two angels arrived at Sodom that evening, Abraham’s nephew Lot met them at the city gate. Lot and his family lived in Sodom. He took the two men to his home and fed them.

Then all the men of the city surrounded Lot’s house and said, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.”
