Daydream Believer

It would be impossible for me to ignore the death of Monkees singer Davy Jones.

Those of you old enough to remember the 60’s probably saw every episode of their TV show at least 5 times.

They never got old and we never had to worry about our parents being offended.

That doesn’t mean I was allowed to have a mop-style haircut right away, that came in the 70’s.

Unlike TV programs today, this secular series, with no mention of God or religion ever, at least was not attacking morality as its mission

Program managers from the major networks had not yet turned to the dark side.

The other thing I loved about television from the 60’s was that it was totally appropriate and almost expected that in every show, like Make Room For Daddy for example, the stars would break out into song.

May Davy Jones rest in peace.

He went from being an obscure horse jockey to a superstar almost over night, simply because he was a daydream believer and auditioned for the Monkees TV Show.

Hard to believe, but this simple song puts a lump in my throat every time.

It had no agenda other than to entertain the fans…so rare today.

Those of you raising kids, I recommend  buying them Monkees albums and letting them watch reruns, if you can find them.
